Docks Bruxsel didn’t always exist. Once, this location housed the Godin stove factory. Jean-Baptiste Godin, a pioneer in 19th-century industry, revolutionized heating and cooking here. Now, Docks Bruxsel stands as a testament to reinvention.
Officially opened on October 20, 2016, Docks Bruxsel boasts over 110 shops. It includes restaurants, cultural activities, a cinema, and an innovative event center. The center also offers panoramic terraces.
But there’s more to Docks Bruxsel than meets the eye. It’s an environmentally friendly complex, earning an Excellent BREEAM score. Rainwater is filtered via a green roof. This water is then reused. Heat comes from a nearby incinerator. Solar panels generate electricity. About 4,500 square meters of them.
In 2018, Docks Bruxsel received an ICSC Award. In 2019, it won the ICSC’s VIVA Award. This award recognizes the best shopping center development in the world.
