Whispers of history echo within these sandstone walls. We are standing before Trinity Episcopal Church. This isn’t just a church; it’s a Santa Barbara landmark with a story etched in every stone.

Trinity Episcopal Church was founded in 1867. But the building you see now has a more recent history. Construction began in 1912 and finished in 1919. Philip H. Frohman designed it in the English Perpendicular Gothic style. He was also the supervising architect for the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

But Mother Nature had other plans. The devastating 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake damaged parts of Trinity Episcopal Church. Reconstruction efforts included adding the Parish Hall and were completed in 1927.

Look closely at the building material. It’s local sandstone. When first built, the structure lacked reinforcing steel. In 1998 Trinity Episcopal Church faced a challenge. New seismic safety ordinances threatened its closure. It undertook a retrofitting project to meet current earthquake standards.

Let your eyes wander to the beautiful memorial windows. They were installed over 30 years as funds became available. Most were crafted by Judson Studios in Los Angeles. This studio has created stained glass windows throughout the United States.

Trinity Episcopal Church offers solace and celebration. People come here in grief, in joy, and in times of transition. It’s a place for worship, prayer, and reflection. Here you will find hospitality.
