Here at L 6 in Mannheim is the main building of the Polizeipräsidium Mannheim. It houses the leadership the administration and the Kriminalkommissariat. This building has a history. It was once the Badisches Bezirksamt Mannheim built in 1903. A modern addition was added in 2011 and 2012. The front of the building was renovated between 2019 and 2021.
The Polizeipräsidium Mannheim employs around 2700 people. Ulrike Schäfer is the current Polizeipräsidentin. She leads this large and important organization. She took over after the unexpected death of Siegfried Kollmar.
In 2024 Baden-Württemberg recognized Ulrike Schäfer’s exceptional leadership qualities. Before becoming Polizeipräsidentin she held various leadership positions. She shows dedication to the police force.
The Polizeipräsidium Mannheim also holds public events. One popular event is the Tag der offenen Tür. Thousands of people attend. They can see police demonstrations learn about crime prevention and meet officers. This event helps build trust between the police and the community.
