Klotten is an enchanting village that dates back to the 7th century. It’s a place where history and legends intertwine. The most prominent landmark of Klotten is undoubtedly Burg Coraidelstein, a castle that seems to grow out of the steep slate slopes that characterize this region. Burg Coraidelstein has seen it all, from its apparent founding by Count Palatine Herman I to its near demolition in the 19th century. What you see today, the Romanesque keep, the Gothic additions, even the manor house nestled within its walls, speaks of centuries of change and resilience. Klotten itself holds a special place in European history. Polish queen Richeza, a woman of power and influence in the 11th century, chose Klotten as her refuge.
