“Knowledgeable, Well-mannered, Visionary.” That’s the motto that guides SMK Sentul Utama. This secondary school is a beacon of education. SMK Sentul Utama stands tall in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It is located on Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah. Its address is Batu 2 1/2.
SMK Sentul Utama opened its doors in 2010. The first students were from Form 1, Form 2 and Form 4. Puan Hajah Maznah Binti Haji Mazlan was the principal. She previously led SMK Setapak Indah. The school started with 200-300 students. Now, over 800 students attend.
The architecture of SMK Sentul Utama is well-known. Some say it is the second tallest building in Malaysia. It has nine floors. SMKSU is a morning-session public school. It welcomes both boys and girls.
SMK Sentul Utama has seen several principals. Puan Hajah Maznah Haji Mazlan served from 2010 to 2014. Puan Norsiah Yahya took over from 2014 to 2019. Puan Che Ma Rabitah led from 2019 to 2022. Puan Nor Aswalela Abdullah is the current principal since 2023.
The school boasts two classroom blocks. There are labs and an academic block. You will also find a staff room and an office. An examination room is available. Students can use the library and multimedia room. A meeting room is also on site. For breaks, there is a canteen. A multi-purpose hall hosts events. Two computer labs offer tech access. In early 2024, the canteen went cashless.
SMK Sentul Utama aims high. Its vision was to be an excellent school in Sentul by 2015. The mission is to develop students’ potential. This aligns with the country’s aspirations. They strive to be a developed nation. The school wants to instill the National Education Philosophy.
SMK Sentul Utama also has a slogan. It is “SMK Sentul Utama Semat Di Hati”. This translates to “SMK Sentul Utama, Cherished in the Heart”. They also have the taglines #WeAreSUians and #SeeUchampions.
SMK Sentul Utama also has a number of head prefects. In 2010-2011 it was Dhivien Sean Raj A/L Selva Kumaran. Then came Syafiq Abdul Latiff in 2011-2012. After that was Nik Nur Muhammad Ameer Nik Zainudin in 2012-2013. Prasana A/P Arasu took over in 2013-2014. Muhammad Syahrul Nizam was head prefect in 2014-2015. Wan Nur Arina led in 2015-2016. M.Ammar Faruq took over in 2016-2017. Tan Kar Hoe followed in 2017-2018. M.Hafiz finished the decade in 2018-2019.
Head librarians also play a role. Nur Syahirah Azman held the position in 2016-2017. Zakirah Nur Alya took over in 2017-2018. Nur Aina Ashikin finished the decade in 2018-2019.
SMK Sentul Utama continues to educate. It prepares students for the future. Its commitment remains strong. It embraces excellence, inclusivity and community.
