Deep beneath the surface near Guilin lies a world of wonder. This is the Yuanfeng Cave. The cave awaits exploration.

Fengyu Cave has an entire length of 5.3 kilometers. A subterranean river stretches for 3.3 kilometers. This underground river is home to the Fengyu or blind red fish.

Imagine a mystical tour as you meander through the cave. Lighting effects enhance the stalagmites and stalactites. The cave runs through nine mountains. One hall is as large as 25500 square meters. It is said to be the No. 1 Cave in Asia.

Here you can see a combination of land water and air. The land section reveals stalactites stalagmites stone curtains and stone pillars. This tour stretches for two kilometers. The water part is an underground river. It runs into the mysterious cave. This section is about 3.3 kilometers long. Bizarre rocks line the river. Some rocks are shaped like birds and animals. The air section features an overhead railway. It connects the entrance and exit. Enjoy a bird’s-eye view of the surrounding countryside from 1.8 km long railway.

The subterranean river descends from a surface stream. This is located 3 km from the Yuanfeng Cave entrance. It originates from the southern sandstone Dayao Mountains. The river enters the cave between sandstone and Devonian limestone. The Sanhe River recharges the subterranean river. Karst fissures increase the discharge in small increments. As a seasonal river the Sanhe floods in summer. It becomes almost dry in winter. Sinkholes on the surface also recharge the subterranean river.

The cave offers a dream tour. You will only awaken when you exit. The Crown Cave is also known as Guanyan Cave. This cave is located in Yangshuo Guilin. It serves as an exit for an underground river. The river connects with the Li River. The water from the Crown Cave is greener. This is because the water source differs from the Li River. The difference is visible to visitors.

Looking from the Li River the cave resembles a hill. Upon entering you’ll discover the hill is hollow. Walking inside reveals the sound of water. Looking down from the handrail you will see another cave. A boat passes through it. To enter the underground cave a boat is needed. The hollow space amplifies voices creating echoes during the tour.

The Yuanfeng Cave consists of three parts. The top two parts are dried karst caves. They feature fantastic stalactites and stalagmites. All are in strange shapes. Typical karst features are abundant here. The bottom part is a giant subterranean river. An underground stream passes through the cave. It eventually joins the Li River. This explains the sound of water heard upon entering.

Modern sightseeing facilities enhance the cave experience. An elevator carries visitors to the Crown Cave exit. It is Asia’s No. 1 sightseeing elevator for cave tours. A small train or roller coaster are also available. These options create a combination of sea land and air travel. This makes it a vivid and memorable journey.

One of the most impressive caves nearby is the Silver Cave. The Silver Cave is the largest karst cave in Guilin. The cave is multi-leveled with many stairs. There are crossings in the form of bridges. Stalactites are the main attraction. They come in the form of columns towers and curtains. Colorful lighting enhances the display.

Rocks in the Silver Cave contain mineral glass. When illuminated they reflect a silvery sheen. The cave transforms into a magnificent underground palace. Stalactites appear strewn with stars. This gives the cave its name.
