Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tây Hải is more than just a building. It’s a symbol of faith and resilience. Let’s delve into the history of this special place. We will explore its evolution and the community that shaped it.

Back in 1954 things were very different. Many faithful Catholics relocated from Northern Vietnam. They were from the Mỹ Động Tư Đa parish in Hải Phòng. They sought a new beginning in the Hố Nai region. This was under the guidance of Fathers Tôma Nguyễn Duy Thể and Tôma Nguyễn Quang Đăng.

The early days were tough. Once settled Father Đăng moved west. Father Thể returned to the Dominican Order. Father Đỗ Đức Tuyên from Mỹ Động parish stepped in. But he too eventually moved to Phan Thiết.

Despite these changes the community persevered. In 1959 they built a simple chapel. It was made of brick wood and tôn roofing. This humble structure became their sanctuary. It was a place for prayer and worship. At this time the community was known as Giáo họ Mẫu Tâm. They belonged to the Kim Bích Parish.

A significant turning point arrived on March 15 1975. Bishop Đức Cha Đaminh Nguyễn Văn Lãng elevated Giáo họ Mẫu Tâm. It was raised to the status of a parish. It was then named Giáo xứ Mẫu Tâm II. Father Laurensô Hứa Văn Mỹ became the first parish priest.

Father Laurensô led the community for many years. In 1994 he initiated the construction of a new church and rectory. This was completed in 1998. It provided a larger more permanent space for the growing congregation.

The church received its current name in 2001. Bishop Phaolô Maria Nguyễn Minh Nhật renamed Giáo xứ Mẫu Tâm II. It became Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tây Hải.

In 2010 Father Giuse Nguyễn Văn Tịch succeeded Father Laurensô. He focused on spiritual growth. He also improved the church facilities. This included building a Marian grotto and renovating the parish cemetery.

Father Giuse Nguyễn Thế Vinh took over in 2017. He renovated and expanded the rectory. He added classrooms for religious education. These new facilities were blessed on June 9 2018. This day coincided with the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Today Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tây Hải stands as a beacon of hope. It reflects the unwavering dedication of its community. It also honors the leaders who guided them. The parish has seen consistent growth since its founding. The number of parishioners has increased from 600 in 1954 to over 1188 today.

Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tây Hải is surrounded by other parishes. Phú Tảo borders it to the east. Kim Bích is to the west. Gia Viên lies to the south and Hòa Hiệp to the north. The parish itself covers an area of 0.41 square kilometers.

The story of Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tây Hải is a reminder. It highlights the power of community and faith. From its humble beginnings to its present-day vibrancy this church embodies the spirit of its people. It is a place where faith continues to thrive.
