Standing here on Wieckestraße, you might not realize the Otto-Brenner-Haus was once a bustling hub of learning. It was built in 1898 as the Royal Building Trades School, a testament to the city’s dedication to craftsmanship. Imagine the young students, eager to learn the trades that built this city. Think of the apprentices, hammering away in the workshops, their hands growing strong with each stroke. The school even had its own name changes throughout its history. For more than fifty years, the building was known as the Heinrich von Kleist school. But in 1984 it became the Otto-Brenner-Gymnasium.
