Is it possible for a school to have two birthdays? Druid Hills High School does! This grand institution we stand before actually began its life in 1914. Originally, it was known as a school for faculty children and was situated on the Emory University campus in the Fishburne Building. Fast forward to 1928, and Druid Hills High School as we know it took root at 1798 Haygood Drive. What started as a K-11 school eventually transitioned to accommodate grades 8-12 by 1959. As if one legacy wasn’t enough, Druid Hills High School embraced the student body of Briarcliff High School in 1987. This merger brought with it a cherished tradition – Baron’s Hall. This special ceremony, established at Briarcliff in 1962, celebrates the achievements of seniors excelling in areas ranging from academics and athletics to leadership and the arts. Druid Hills High School’s dedication to fostering well-rounded individuals is clear. In 2004, it soared to new heights by becoming an International Baccalaureate school. This globally recognized program provides a challenging and intellectually stimulating curriculum for 11th and 12th graders. Druid Hills High School is more than just bricks and mortar; it’s a testament to the power of education and community.
