Envision yourself stepping back in time to 1896. A magnificent Queen Anne Victorian mansion stands before you. This is the A.H. Beach House, a true testament to the grandeur of a bygone era. Albert H. Beach, a prominent real estate agent and insurance representative, had this architectural masterpiece built for himself and his wife, Annie. They moved into their new home in February 1896. The A.H. Beach House, also known as the Bergman House, is the most ornate Queen Anne Victorian home in Escondido. Its fish-scale siding and multi-gabled roof are truly captivating. Sadly, the Beach family didn’t reside here long. Perhaps due to over-investment, Albert Beach lost the house. It changed hands several times after 1897, starting with Henry W. Putnam, a businessman and inventor. In 1968, Virgil and Natalie Bergman purchased the A.H. Beach House. They embarked on an extensive restoration, reviving the mansion’s original splendor while adding modern comforts. Their efforts earned the A.H. Beach House a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1993. Later, art dealer Harry Parashis and his wife, Letitia, continued the restoration work, further enhancing the home’s Victorian grandeur. The A.H. Beach House is not just a historical landmark. It’s a living testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of the Victorian era. It stands as a reminder of the people who lived within its walls, each adding their own chapter to the house’s rich story.
