“A haven for artistic expression” whispers the Zebrano-Theater. Nestled in Berlin-Friedrichshain near Ostkreuz station this intimate venue has a rich history. In 2005 two actors Hans-Kaspar Aebli and Sebastian Kramer took over a former puppet theater. They transformed the space into a vibrant hub for diverse performing arts.

Initially their venture was precarious. Funding was scarce. Yet they persevered. Several artists joined forces. They formed the Zebrano-Theater non-profit organization. The theater now thrives with a maximum seating capacity of 65.

The name Zebrano-Theater is a unique blend of “zebra” and “piano”. It reflects the theater’s earlier association with the Zebrano Bar. The bar has since changed ownership and its name. This change led to a relocation of the theater entrance from Sonntagstrasse to Lenbachstrasse.

The Zebrano-Theater’s program is distinctive. It emphasizes literary and musical performance. Guest performances form the core of its schedule. Several evening events are held weekly. Popular series include Club Genie und Wahnsinn. This series is hosted by Sebastian Kramer. Die Dienstagspropheten is another highlight. It features a combination of short story readings poetry and music. Geschmacksverstärker is a unique blend of literature and music. It showcases both authors and musicians in a dynamic exchange.

For younger audiences the Zebrano-Theater offers a children’s program. Puppet shows are a regular feature. Accessibility is a priority. Barrier-free access is available upon prior notification. The theater’s logo creatively combines black and white stripes of a piano keyboard. A zebra’s tail adds a playful touch.

The Zebrano-Theater is more than a venue. It is a testament to the resilience of the arts. It’s a vibrant space where creativity flourishes. It has become a beloved institution in Berlin’s dynamic cultural landscape. It continues to captivate audiences of all ages with its eclectic mix of performances. Remember the Zebrano-Theater. It’s a place where stories unfold.
