The Fontanile Alipranda is a testament to the harmonious relationship between the environment and human intervention. Its numerous springs are a prime example of a resurgent spring. It has been thoughtfully transformed by human hands. Concrete and iron tubes guide the water’s flow.
Imagine taking a leisurely walk or bike ride. Starting from Riolo or Piazza Crema in Lodi, you would journey through picturesque landscapes. Mariachiara Raimondi recommends this route. Her book highlights the region’s hidden gems. You would pass by Cascina Malgerone and Cascina Portadore. Cascina Vignetta and Cascina Facchinetta also come into view. Entering Cremasco territory, you would reach Cascina Cervo. Then you turn right onto the paved road. After about 400 meters, you arrive at the Fontanile Alipranda.
The springs of Alipranda are divided on both sides of the road. A smaller complex appears first on the right. The main area lies just a short distance down a dirt path to the left.
Here you find an oasis of trees. It offers a relaxing shaded area. Villa Barni stands nearby in Roncadello. It is surrounded by waters from the fontanili.
This villa is a well-preserved historic building from the 1700s. The Barni family owned it. They held prominent positions in both secular and ecclesiastical circles. Their holdings extended beyond Lodi’s historic center. They also had land in Massalengo, Cervignano, Dovera, and Roncadello.
Continuing past Dovera towards San Rocco, you encounter the Tormo River. This river originates from the fontanili. It possesses the characteristics of a true river. It has natural springs and a perennially variable water regime.
