A Michelin star gleams isn’t it? That’s the Landhaus Scherrer. Right here on the Elbchaussee.

For over four decades Landhaus Scherrer has graced Hamburg’s culinary landscape. It’s more than just a restaurant. It’s a Hamburg institution. Originally mentioned in 1827 the building served as a tavern for teamsters since 1840. In the 20th century it belonged to the Elbschloss Brewery. Armin and Emmi Scherrer purchased it in 1975. They transformed it into the restaurant we see today opening in 1976.

The Landhaus Scherrer isn’t just one space. It’s a complex. There’s the gourmet restaurant of course. The Bistro offers a more casual dining experience. And next door on Hohenzollernring is the charming 01. It serves lighter fare. The Landhaus even boasts its own wine cellar. This makes it a complete culinary destination.

Heinz Otto Wehmann is the heart of Landhaus Scherrer. He’s been here since 1980. He became chef and managing director in 1981. After Armin Scherrer passed away in 1982 Emmi Scherrer and Heinz Otto Wehmann took over. In 2019 Heinz O Wehmann assumed sole leadership. His legacy continues to this day.

Many renowned chefs and sommeliers have worked at the Landhaus Scherrer. Names like Hendrik Thoma Nils Henkel and Manfred Stocker are just a few. These are just a few names in a long history. Their culinary talents have contributed to the restaurant’s enduring success.

Wolfram Siebeck a renowned food critic described the Landhaus Scherrer perfectly. He called it the epitome of everything that made Hamburg’s gastronomy both successful and controversial. Elegant luxurious expensive sophisticated modern rustic bourgeois and affordable all at once. A true testament to its versatility.

The Landhaus Scherrer earned its first Michelin star in 1978. It even held two stars for a time. Today you can still find exquisite dishes. Perhaps you’ll try the whole roasted Vierländer duck. This dish carved tableside is a showstopper. Or maybe the vegan green kale ravioli? The Landhaus Scherrer offers something for everyone. Even a completely vegan menu has been offered for the last three years. This proves that modern creativity is alive and well here at the Landhaus Scherrer. It’s a place where tradition and innovation meet.

The Landhaus Scherrer isn’t just a restaurant. It’s a piece of Hamburg history. It’s a place where culinary excellence meets refined ambiance. Enjoy your visit to this iconic Hamburg establishment.
