Established in 2009, the M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences stands as a beacon of medical education. It is located at the UTAR Sungai Long Campus. This faculty’s story is one of dedication to social welfare. It also embodies a commitment to medical excellence.
The M. Kandiah Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences was renamed on September 13, 2022. It was formerly known as the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The faculty was named in honor of Mr M. Kandiah Murugasu. He was crucial in establishing social welfare foundations in Malaysia. Mr. Kandiah created Malaysia’s First National Social Welfare Policy. This policy still guides the country’s social welfare activities.
Mr. Brahmal Vasudevan spoke at the renaming event. He emphasized the strong recognition for Mr. M. Kandiah. Ms. Shanti Kandiah praised UTAR for educating young Malaysians. She felt privileged to be associated with such an inspiring institution.
