The stained glass whispers stories. Killermont Parish Church stands before you. Its very stones hum with history. This isn’t just any church. It’s a testament to faith perseverance and community spirit.

Killermont Parish Church in Bearsden wasn’t always here. Its origins lie in the creation of the parish itself. That happened in 1935. The church building a hall at first took shape between 1935 and 1937. The sanctuary however didn’t open until 1957. Architect Walter Ramsay designed it. The beautiful stained glass windows add a touch of brilliance. Artists Gordon Webster Sadie McLellan and Christian Shaw created them.

Imagine the dedication involved. Building a church isn’t a simple task. Especially in the years after the Second World War. This church was more than just bricks and mortar. It was a beacon of hope a symbol of resilience in a changing world. The community rallied. They raised funds. They contributed their skills and time. This is a truly unique church.

Killermont Parish Church is part of a larger story. It’s connected to New Kilpatrick Parish Church. That church has a rich history spanning centuries. Killermont began as a daughter church. It started with a hall in 1935. It eventually achieved full parish status in 1938. The opening service of the Killermont Parish Church was a momentous occasion. The Right Reverend George F MacLeod officiated. He opened the church on October 3 1957.

Consider the Sunday services. They’ve been held faithfully for many years. At 10 am every Sunday. In the summer months from late June to mid-August there’s also a 9 am service. Some evening services are held at 7 pm. The church is open by arrangement but only on special occasions.

Killermont Parish Church stands as a living testament to faith. It’s a place where community thrives. It’s a building filled with stories waiting to be discovered. It’s a significant part of Bearsden’s rich heritage. Let its beauty and history inspire you.
