Opened in 1954 Balgriffin Cemetery offers a serene glimpse into Dublin’s past. Fingal County Council maintains this important burial ground. While Balgriffin Cemetery is nearly full it still accepts burials. This is only for those who previously purchased family plots.

Balgriffin Cemetery is reachable via the North Strand Road. Pass through Fairview. Turn left onto the main Malahide Road. Continue toward Malahide. Pass Campion’s Public House in Balgriffin. Then take the first left turn. Alternatively take the number 42 bus. Get off at the bus stop past Campion’s. Walk up the short cul-de-sac to the cemetery.

Balgriffin Cemetery has a history dating back to the 17th century. It began as a burial ground for those executed at Kilmainham Jail. Later it expanded to include ordinary citizens. It became one of Ireland’s most significant cemeteries.
