Shilipu earned its unique name due to its distance from the county’s government building. It was precisely ten Chinese miles away. Shilipu literally translates to “Ten Miles Fort”. This gives us a glimpse into the town’s historical connection to the governing powers of the time. Fast forward to today. Shilipu, located in Beijing’s Miyun District, thrives along China National Highway 101. It’s bordered by several towns and subdistricts. These include Xitiangezhuang and Miyun Towns to the north. Guoyuan Subdistrict and Henanzhai Town lie to the east. Beifang Town sits to the southwest. As of 2020, nearly 30,000 people call Shilipu home. The town encompasses an area of 23.5 square kilometers. Shilipu’s story reflects the evolution of China. It shows the transition from a small village to a bustling town.
