Farmers and animals moving about their daily routines. The rhythmic clang of tools. The lowing of cattle. The scent of hay and earth thick in the air.

The main farmhouse with its elegant portico of four rounded arches forms the northeast corner. This is likely the oldest part of Cascina Cossago. A sturdy structure of brick. Partially plastered offering a glimpse into its age. The east side features a barn also with a welcoming portico. It opens directly onto the road. The north side is a delightful mix of buildings. A small cheese factory. A three-bay portico a farmhouse and other service structures. All playing their part in the farm’s rhythm.

To the south is the horse stable another porticoed structure. More modern stables and porticos are situated in the southwest corner. The main house is now a residence. The entire complex however thrives as an active farm. A clear demonstration of its enduring spirit.

Historical records provide fascinating details. The Cascina Cossago’s presence is clearly marked on the early 18th-century cadastral map. Then it was within the territory of Villambrera bordering Paullo. By 1855 Cascina Cossago had undergone significant changes. The main building was extended with the addition of porticoes. A new long structure was built along the Roggia Luserona canal. Further expansion occurred in the late 19th century. A new square building was added. The south-west building was also extended.

Today Cascina Cossago’s layout differs somewhat from its early 20th-century appearance. Some buildings in the west have been demolished. New agricultural structures now stand in their place. This showcases the continual adaptation of Cascina Cossago throughout the ages. A timeless connection to the land.
