Construction of the Royal Crown Arch marked a significant milestone. It celebrated the coronation of Sultan Iskandar on March 23 2015. The arch itself is a stunning replica of his crown. Did you know the arches are designed to look like elephant tusks? This is a nod to the historical significance of elephants. In the 15th century elephants carried Sultans in processions. They were even used in warfare. History whispers of Sultan Mahmud Shah falling from his elephant during a battle in Melaka in 1511. The chaos that followed contributed to the Portuguese victory.
