Closing in on five decades of history, Kyoto Shiritsu Ogurisu Junior High School stands as a testament to community spirit. Established in 1975 as a branch of the Fukakusa Junior High School, Kyoto Shiritsu Ogurisu Junior High School quickly gained its own identity. This school, nestled within the Fushimi Ward of Kyoto, is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a vibrant hub where students forge lifelong bonds. Imagine the echoes of laughter and the spirited cheers during school festivals. Picture first-year students embarking on outdoor adventures and collaborating on creative projects. Envision second-year students tackling challenging experiences like the hundred-person poetry recitation and engaging in character-building activities. Think of the anticipation of third-year students preparing for their transformative trip to Okinawa. Kyoto Shiritsu Ogurisu Junior High School isn’t just about academics. It’s a place where friendships are forged, talents are nurtured, and memories are made. Sadly, the school is scheduled to close at the end of March 2025. A new combined elementary and junior high school will be established, merging Ogurisu Junior High with three local elementary schools. But the spirit of Kyoto Shiritsu Ogurisu Junior High School, the bonds formed, and the lessons learned will undoubtedly live on in the hearts of its students and the community it served.
