Amidst the gentle hum of life in Huffman, Texas, rises the Lake Houston United Methodist Church. It stands as a testament to faith and resilience, a beacon of hope for the community it serves. Lake Houston United Methodist Church was founded in 1962 with a simple mission: to share the love and hope of Jesus Christ. This church quickly became a spiritual anchor for the residents of Huffman and the surrounding Lake Houston area. Over the years, the church has been more than just a place of worship. It has been a gathering place, a source of comfort, and a symbol of unity. In August 2017, Hurricane Harvey brought devastating floods. The church, a sanctuary for so many, was filled with water, rendering the old sanctuary unusable. This could have been the end of the story. However, the congregation saw it as an opportunity for a new beginning. They made the bold decision to rebuild. In doing so, they created a modern worship space that could better serve the growing community. This new sanctuary isn’t just a building. It’s a symbol of the church’s unwavering faith and commitment to its mission. In January 2023, Lake Houston United Methodist Church joined the Global Methodist Church denomination. This marked another significant chapter in its history, reaffirming its connection to a broader community of faith. Today, Lake Houston United Methodist Church continues to thrive. It stands as a symbol of resilience and hope, a testament to the power of faith to overcome adversity. It remains committed to loving God, loving its neighbors, and sharing the message of Jesus Christ with all who enter its doors.
