In 1997, a beacon of faith was ignited in Las Vegas with the founding of the Anointed Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. Overseer Almary Gaston, along with the church’s board members, laid the foundation for what would become a spiritual haven. Anointed Tabernacle’s story began a few years earlier, however, in a church called Miracle Faith Temple Inc., founded by Dr. Bernice Tolbert. The journey from Miracle Faith Temple to Anointed Tabernacle involved trials and transitions. But through it all, the church persevered. The Anointed Tabernacle Pentecostal Church believes in the power of deliverance. They believe in rescuing people from sin and guiding them through life’s trials. This resonates in their motto: “Where Miracles and Blessings Flow”. This belief is further cemented by their chosen scripture, Psalm 32:7: “Thou art my hiding place, thou shall preserve me from trouble; thou shall compass me about with songs of deliverance.” In 2005, the church expanded into a new sanctuary. This marked a significant milestone, signifying growth and God’s blessings. They named the new sanctuary the Greater Anointed Tabernacle. Anointed Tabernacle Pentecostal Church is deeply rooted in community outreach. They are dedicated to caring for the widows, the fatherless, and the homeless, embodying the principle of loving thy neighbor. Their outreach programs include feeding the community, visiting the sick and shut-in, and providing spiritual guidance. They also actively engage in missionary work, new member teachings, and revivals. Overseer Gaston, a pillar of the gospel and a respected leader in the community, led the church until 2018. She then passed the mantle to Pastor Jessie Gaston-Neal. Overseer Gaston’s legacy extended beyond the church walls. She was a prominent figure in various organizations, including the NAACP, the Southern Nevada Ministerial Marriage Counsel, and the Las Vegas Fellowship of Gospel Singers. Her contributions were recognized through numerous awards. Even a local school, Kit Carson, renamed its multipurpose room in her honor. Overseer Gaston’s passing in 2020 marked a significant loss for the community. Her memory continues to inspire the Anointed Tabernacle Pentecostal Church. The church’s numerous auxiliaries, including the Motherboard, Usher Board, Men’s Brotherhood, Women’s Department, and the Choir, all play crucial roles in the church’s mission. They provide support, guidance, and fellowship to the congregation. They also play a key role in the church’s outreach programs. Though the church faced challenges, including the suspension of regular services due to the Coronavirus pandemic, its spirit of faith and service remains strong. The Anointed Tabernacle Pentecostal Church stands as a testament to the power of faith, community, and dedication to serving others.
