“Spooky spot” whispers echo around the abandoned platform. This is the old Kintetsu Kosaezaka Station. It closed in 1964. The station remains a relic. It is a haunting reminder of a bygone era.

Kosaezaka Station served the Kintetsu Nara Line. It operated until a new tunnel rerouted the train line. This left the old station obsolete. For over 55 years it has stood silent. It is a forgotten monument. The platforms still exist.

Local legend paints this place as more than just an abandoned station. Before its closure, the tunnel nearby was allegedly haunted. Passengers reported strange occurrences. During late-night rides, the train cars would inexplicably fill with people. This happened even when few passengers were present. Kintetsu even ran an extra train. This was done after the last scheduled service to address these spooky claims.

The adjacent Seikyu Tunnel is notorious. It is one of Kansai’s most infamous haunted spots. People claimed to see shadowy figures. They looked out the train windows while passing through it. Some hear disembodied footsteps. These sounds persist even after the station’s closure.

These ghost stories may stem from tragic accidents. A construction accident in 1913 killed many people. A train car fire in 1946 also led to many fatalities. Another fire occurred in 1947. These incidents may have contributed to the station’s haunted reputation.

The name Kosaezaka has historical roots. It links back to Emperor Jinmu’s mythology. The station’s name changed to Kosaezaka in 1940. This coincided with the 2600th anniversary of the Emperor’s reign. The name references a hill where Emperor Jinmu exchanged blades with local豪族.

Today, the abandoned Kosaezaka Station is eerie. Its entrance to the old Seikyu Tunnel is sealed. It exudes an unsettling feeling. The tunnel still functions as an emergency exit. It serves the new tunnel. It also houses electrical equipment.

The platform remains largely untouched. A small Shinto shrine stands near the former platform. It commemorates victims of past accidents. It also prays for the safety of the existing tunnel. A stone monument is inscribed with “White Dragon God”. This offers solace to those who died.

Though access is restricted, visits are sometimes allowed. This usually happens during the New Year. The crumbling platforms evoke a sense of nostalgia. They whisper stories of a time when trains rumbled through here. The Kosaezaka Station is a silent echo of a vibrant past.
