UTCC’s story begins in 1940. It started as the College of Commerce in Bangkok. However, its journey wasn’t without interruption. The college closed in December 1941. This closure followed the Japanese invasion during World War II. It eventually reopened in 1963. The college received formal accreditation in 1970. It became a full university in 1984.
UTCC boasts eight schools. These include business and accountancy. Also economics, humanities, and science. Plus communication arts, engineering, and law. The university offers programs in both English and Thai. These programs extend to the doctoral level.
UTCC actively fosters international connections. It has student exchange programs. These partnerships include universities in the US. Also Australia and Europe. International classes are taught in English.

UTCC maintains several research centers. One is the Research Institute for Policy Evaluation and Design. Its focus is on Southeast Asia. Also, there is the AEC Strategy Center. It researches business information. It offers consultancy focused on the ASEAN Economic Community. The Innovation Driven Entrepreneurship Center develops entrepreneurs. They aim to innovate in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
UTCC has produced notable alumni. These include actors like Phupoom Pongpanu. Also Jesdaporn Pholdee. These individuals have made their mark in Thai media.
