Opened in 1949, the Higashiosaka City Kamikosaka Junior High School has a rich history. Originally named the Fuse City Sixth Junior High School, it stood as a beacon of education amidst post-war Japan. Imagine the students in those early days, attending classes in a city still recovering from the war. Kamikosaka Junior High School wasn’t always at its current location. It initially opened at 2-chome, 30, Kamikosaka, Fuse City. The name changed in 1967 when Fuse City merged with others to become Higashiosaka. This resulted in the school’s renaming to the Higashiosaka City Sixth Junior High School. Just a few months later, it received its current name: Higashiosaka City Kamikosaka Junior High School. The school’s song and uniforms have been updated over the years, reflecting the changing times. In 1979, a new school song was adopted. The uniforms were redesigned in 1991 and again in 2018. Today, Kamikosaka Junior High School draws students from Kamikosaka Elementary School and Sakurabashi Elementary School. Interestingly, students from Kosaka River area can also choose to attend Kamikosaka, despite it not being their designated school zone. This reflects the school’s reputation and the community’s connection to it. Kamikosaka Junior High School is more than just a school; it’s a thread woven into the fabric of Higashiosaka’s story.
