Above us the Hamburg sky stretches wide. Welcome to ChristusGemeinde Nord. This vibrant community wasn’t always here. Its story begins not in a grand building but in the converted spaces above a bustling Barmbek-Nord shopping street.
In 2005 a new chapter unfolded. ChristusGemeinde Nord was born a daughter church of Christus-Gemeinde Barmbek-Süd. It wasn’t easy. Securing permits for the new space proved a challenge. The approval process stretched on. The community’s faith however remained unshaken. They persevered their prayers eventually answered. On September 30th 2005 contracts were signed. The community could finally move in.
Intensive renovation followed. Five weeks of hard work transformed the rented space. The new home was ready for its first service. A memorable service marked the departure from the mother church. Blessings and well wishes accompanied ChristusGemeinde Nord into its independent future.
On November 13th 2005 ChristusGemeinde Nord held its first public service. Three parallel children’s groups were running simultaneously. That day showed the heart of the community its commitment to families and children. An afternoon reception followed. Neighbors and friends celebrated the church’s arrival.
Today ChristusGemeinde Nord thrives. It’s a testament to perseverance faith and community. It’s a place where people connect with God and each other. The church offers various activities throughout the week. It aims to be a relevant church a place where people experience God grow in love and make a difference. It’s a living community. It seeks to address the needs of its neighbors. It welcomes all who wish to learn more. The story of ChristusGemeinde Nord is a story of faith hope and love. It’s a story still being written.
