Awakening to faith in Bucharest, Ștefan Cornu, the future pastor of Biserica Teocentric, felt a powerful transformation. From a life consumed by worldly pursuits, he discovered a profound joy in Christ. This spiritual awakening led him to the Baptist Theological Seminary in Bucharest. There, from 2008 to 2012, his passion for establishing new churches ignited. After his studies, he served as a pastor at a burgeoning Baptist church in Bucharest. This experience shaped and refined his calling. By late 2020 and early 2021, a new vision began to crystallize. Cornu felt a strong pull towards planting another church in Bucharest. He recognized the city’s spiritual needs and embarked on a period of prayer and fasting with his wife. The decision was challenging. After much wrestling with their faith, they discerned God’s clear direction. Biserica Teocentric started humbly in the summer of 2021, within the walls of their apartment’s living room. Soon, others joined, sharing their passion for church planting and their concern for Bucharest’s spiritual landscape. This diverse group, united by their shared calling, envisioned a vibrant, biblically grounded church focused on the Gospel in Romania’s capital. For over a year, they met, deepening their understanding of God’s vision. They grew both numerically and spiritually. Then, in February 2023, Biserica Teocentric officially launched, marking a significant milestone in their journey. Today, Biserica Teocentric at Strada Cerceilor, nr. 4, welcomes people from all walks of life. It’s a place where passionate worship, thoughtful preaching, and warm fellowship converge. The church emphasizes community through small group meetings during the week and one-on-one discipleship. They believe in the power of shared vulnerability and accountability in nurturing spiritual growth. On Sundays, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the church gathers for celebration and worship. They extend a warm welcome to visitors. Even a first visit, which can sometimes feel intimidating, is met with a friendly, encouraging atmosphere. You can find the church easily thanks to the welcoming signs.
