Imagine Mộ Lao long ago. It was a simple village in the Thiên Mỗ tổng. This was during the Nguyễn Dynasty. Tř Liêm district encompassed it then.
Over time Mộ Lao evolved. It merged with other villages after 1945. These villages were Văn Quán Cầu Đơ and Hà Trì. Together they became part of Hà Đông town. Mộ Lao was then a village outside the town.
In 1965 Mộ Lao joined three other villages. These were Văn Quán Yên Phúc and Xa La. They formed Văn Yên commune.
A significant change occurred on June 23 1994. The government dissolved Văn Yên commune. Two new wards emerged Văn Mỗ and Phúc La. Văn Mỗ included Văn Quán and Mộ Lao.
Later on December 27 2006 Văn Mỗ became part of Hà Đông city. Finally on March 1 2008 Mộ Lao ward was officially established. It was separated from Văn Mỗ ward.
