This motorway runs from Athens to Thessaloniki to Evzonoi. The railway from Athens to Thessaloniki also passes east of Kryoneri.

Kryoneri has been an Arvanite settlement historically. Let’s look at Kryoneri’s population over the years. In 1981, 858 people called Kryoneri home. By 1991, the population grew to 1261. The year 2001 saw a population of 2721. In 2011, Kryoneri had 5040 residents. The latest count in 2021 shows 5318 people living here.
