How about we journey beyond our world for a moment? We are standing at the entrance of the Bao’an District Satellite Science Popularization Education Base. This is Shenzhen’s first satellite science education base. It fills a gap in the city’s educational landscape.
Let me tell you a bit about how this base came to be. The Bao’an District Committee and District Government recognized the importance of science popularization. They placed technological innovation and its popularization on equal footing. In July 2016, Bao’an District signed a cooperation agreement with Asia Satellite Communications Company. This agreement kick-started the construction of the Bao’an District Satellite Science Popularization Education Base and its supporting facilities.
This base is more than just a collection of buildings. It is part of Shenzhen’s Asia High-Throughput Broadband Satellite Communication System project. The satellite ground station here is a full-waveband station. Once operational, it will be Shenzhen’s satellite industry core technology area. It will provide satellite uplinks for the city’s broadcasting and television industries. It also provides satellite link support and emergency satellite communications technology.
The Bao’an District Satellite Science Popularization Education Base covers about 10,000 square meters. It consists of four two-story buildings. These buildings have a floor area of about 3,192 square meters. They include a base facility building, a satellite communication building, and a satellite telemetry and control building. There is also a supporting facility building. Six deep-foundation satellite antenna foundations were also built. Approximately 984 meters of connecting park roads were constructed as well.
Currently, the project is complete and ready for final acceptance. The Bao’an District Satellite Science Popularization Education Base is an important part of the Shenzhen Asia High-Throughput Broadband Satellite Communication System project. The base supports China’s “One Belt, One Road” initiative. It also supports national strategies like becoming a maritime power and a transportation power. This project was introduced by the municipal Party committee and government. It is listed as a key project in Guangdong Province and a major project in Shenzhen.
Inside the base, you will find several fascinating exhibition halls. These include a rocket and satellite exhibition hall. There is also a rocket launch simulation hall. A satellite telemetry and control hall will captivate you. The satellite ground station experience area is also pretty cool. The base adds aerospace science popularization content to Luotian Forest Park. It is also creates an edutainment experience for visitors. Citizens can experience the charm of aerospace science up close. It helps improve the scientific and cultural literacy of the city.
The Shenzhen Aerospace Co., Ltd. also plays a role here. The company participates in activities. This shows the library’s determination to integrate social resources and promote reading for all. It’s a successful exploration of public cultural services. This cooperation deeply integrates culture and aerospace. The Bao’an District Satellite Science Popularization Education Base provides innovation. It strengthens the connections between libraries, enterprises, schools, and communities. It also meets the diverse reading needs of the public.
Stepping inside, the Bao’an District Satellite Science Popularization Education Base will offer a window to the cosmos. It will inspire a new generation of scientists and explorers. The city will also foster a deeper appreciation for the wonders of space and technology.
