Picture this a vibrant Sunday morning. The sun shines brightly on West Houston Church of Christ. It’s a beautiful building. It wasn’t always so.

West Houston Church of Christ started humbly. A group of Christians felt a need. They needed a church in that part of Harris County. Their first meeting was in 1982. It wasn’t in a grand building. Instead it was at Bear Creek Elementary School. Think about that simple beginning.

Years passed. The congregation grew. They secured their first property. It was at West Road and Highway 6. This served the community for many years. It was a testament to their dedication and growth.

Then came a significant turning point. A campaign called “Building Up Reaching Out” helped raise funds. In June 2005 the church moved to its current location. This modern building stands as a symbol of their success. It’s a testament to the community’s faith and generosity. Interestingly by March 29 2009 the church was debt-free. This is a remarkable achievement.

The church has seen several ministers lead. Kurt Picker served from 1982 to 2000. Tim Spivey followed for a short time. Then came Matt Soper and finally Brian Offutt who is the current minister.

Today West Houston Church of Christ continues to thrive. It offers A Cappella worship at 8:30 am and Instrumental Worship at 10:45 am. It’s more than just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant community. It’s a symbol of enduring faith. It is a story of growth perseverance and community. This building is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a living testament to a faith journey.
