It was established in 1937. In 1999 the school expanded. It opened a new building for a modern curriculum. In 2006 the school was named after Dmitry Danylovych Lelyushenko. He was a Soviet military commander. He played a key role in several important battles during World War II including the Battle of Stalingrad. Lelyushenko was known for his strategic brilliance and leadership skills. He was twice awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. Today Школа № 627 имени генерала Д. Д. Лелюшенко.
