Contemplating a journey of self-discovery? The Tibetisches Zentrum in Hamburg opens its doors to all seeking enlightenment. It is a place where ancient wisdom meets modern life.

The Tibetisches Zentrum was founded in 1977. It operates under the patronage of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama. This center is dedicated to sharing Tibetan Buddhism with Western audiences.

The Tibetisches Zentrum offers diverse programs. Regular meditations and public lectures are available. There are also multi-day seminars and three-month courses. For those seeking deeper knowledge, a multi-year study program is offered. This program is called “Systematic Study of Buddhism”. It provides a profound understanding of Buddha’s teachings. People can complete it alongside their careers.

Geshe Pema Samten provides qualified guidance. He received his training at Sera Jhe Monastic University in South India. Tibetan guest teachers and experienced Western Buddhism teachers also contribute.

The Tibetisches Zentrum’s activities focus on study and meditation. The “Systematic Study of Buddhism” offers a deeper understanding of Buddhist teachings. Over 1,700 people have participated in this course since its beginning. The courses are broadcast live in German. They reach over 400 participants in German-speaking countries.

Located on Hermann-Balk-Straße, the Tibetisches Zentrum has been in Hamburg-Berne since 1983. It is a short walk from the Berne U-Bahn station. The center includes offices, a library, and living space for ordained members. A temple is located in the garden. It hosts lectures and meditations for up to 60 people. Celebrations can accommodate up to 100 people.

The Tibetisches Zentrum offers various events. All are welcome to join meditations every Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings. The sessions are led by qualified instructors. You can meditate in person or via livestream. The center’s YouTube channel broadcasts the sessions.

The Tibetisches Zentrum also hosts a coffee social. It is open in HH-City on Mondays and Fridays. The coffee social accompanies the evening meditations.

The Lama Chöpa is a tantric practice performed regularly in Tibetan monasteries. Those with Highest Yoga Tantra initiations are welcome. Others with faith in tantric teachings are also welcome. Participants can bring offerings such as baked goods, fruit, or tea lights. If you feel connected to the Tibetisches Zentrum you can send prayer requests for loved ones in need to tz@tibet.de.

Gen Lobsang Choejor leads the morning Chöd practice via Zoom. This ancient practice is normally restricted to those with empowerments. However, anyone with trust in the practice may participate. Listening without recitation is also possible. Sessions are not recorded.
