This Gurdwara is more than just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant heart of the Sikh community in Berlin Brandenburg. Founded in 1993 it’s a registered non-profit religious association. The Sikhs who gather here believe in one God and the equality of all people regardless of background.
For many years the congregation held weekly services in rented spaces. Their numbers grew steadily. The community eventually acquired a former paint factory in Reinickendorf. They transformed it into their Gurdwara. But even that space proved too small. In 2002 the community made a significant investment. They acquired a larger building. Since 2021 Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Berlin has resided at Bahnstrasse 2 in Teltow.
This Gurdwara isn’t simply a house of prayer. It’s a bustling center of community life. Daily morning and evening services are held. Sundays see the largest gatherings. They last from 10 am to 4 pm. A crucial part of Sikh worship is the shared meal. This tradition is wholeheartedly embraced here. Visitors are always offered tea and small refreshments. Weekends see a midday meal served to as many as 800 people.
The Gurdwara also serves as a social hub for newcomers from India. Many students and professionals find support and friendship within these walls.
