New Life Christian Ministries started humbly. In 1991 Pastor Rhodes and her husband Pastor David opened their church at a YMCA in Highland Park. They had a vision. A vision for a church that embraced the Bible’s teachings. A church that served its community. Nine years earlier Pastor Rhodes felt a calling. A call to feed God’s sheep. She answered that call. It changed her life. It changed countless others.
The church moved to its current Detroit location. It’s a place where people find solace. They find community. They find their faith strengthened. Pastor Jacquelyn Rhodes. Senior Pastor. She’s led New Life Christian Ministries for years. With assistance from Elder Nate Pittman and Reverend Gwen Townsend. Along with Bro Rick Lewis who manages operations. This team guides the church’s mission. That mission is to introduce people to Jesus. To share the message of new life. To equip disciples to glorify God.
The church holds services every Sunday at 11 am. And again on Wednesdays at 715 pm. Special events are held. Like the Soulwinning Outreach at River Rouge Park. With music swimming games hot dogs and chips. It’s a day of fellowship. A day of fun. A day for the whole family. New Life Christian Ministries. It’s more than a church. It’s a family.
Their belief in the Bible is unwavering. They believe in the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. They believe in the deity of Jesus Christ. They believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit. They believe in the Lord’s Supper. Water baptism is also part of their practices. They believe women can minister in the church. Their statement of faith is clear. Their commitment steadfast.
