Place of non-violence. That is the meaning of Ahinsa Sthal. It stands as a testament to Jain principles. Ahinsa Sthal is a sanctuary of peace in bustling Delhi. We are standing before a site that embodies non-violence.

Ahinsa Sthal was established in 1980. It is near the Qutub Complex on MG Road. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavira. He was the 24th and last Tirthankara. Tirthankaras are human spiritual guides. They appear in the current half round of time.

Look up at the magnificent statue of Lord Mahavira. It is 13 feet 6 inches high. He is in Padmasana. This is the Lotus Position. The statue was carved from granite rock. This happened in Karkala. It weighs about 30 tonnes. The lotus podium is 2 feet 8 inches high. It weighs about 17 tonnes.

Notice the two brutal lions. They stand guard on both sides of the statue. This adds to the impressive structure. The Ahinsa Sthal is on a small hill.

Feel the tranquility of Ahinsa Sthal. It offers an escape from busy life. The stone carving and architecture are excellent. A green area surrounds the statue. Take a walk on the stone pathway. Read the poems. They preach Lord Mahavira’s philosophy. Ahinsa means peacefulness. Mahavira lectured and followed this principle.

Ahinsa Sthal is also known as Metcalfe Battery House. Thomas Metcalfe, a British bureaucrat, built a lighthouse here. It was in the 19th century.

The temple complex promotes non-violence. It encourages peace in thought, action, and speech. The serene environment is ideal for meditation.

Consider visiting during Jain festivals. Mahavir Jayanti is celebrated here. People of all religions are welcome. Experience the spiritual beauty of Jain culture here at Ahinsa Sthal. It is open from 10 am to 5 pm every day. Entry is free.

Ahinsa Sthal is more than a temple. It is a reminder of peace. It is a call for non-violence. It stands as a beacon of serenity. Let us carry the message of Ahinsa Sthal with us. Let’s promote peace wherever we go.
