James E Taylor High School opened its doors on November 26 1979. It wasn’t just another school. It was named for James “Jimmy” Edgar Taylor. He was superintendent of the Katy ISD for an incredible 31 years. During his time the district grew from a small Class A to one with two 5A high schools. That’s impressive growth.
This school has a rich history of academic success. James E Taylor High School is a 1996 Blue Ribbon School. It even ranked 1499 out of all US high schools in 2022 according to US News and World Report. That’s something to be proud of. But the accolades don’t stop there.
