Right here, where Masjid Sabilunnajah stands, a transformation unfolded. Can you imagine this area once riddled with petty crime? This was a notorious haunt for thugs. Extortion was common. Many locals fell victim to their drunken antics.
But then, something remarkable happened. The Masjid Sabilunnajah was established by devoted Muslims. Soon after, the SD IT Fajar Ilahi school opened its doors. Slowly but surely, the area began to change.
Masjid Sabilunnajah became a beacon of hope. The once-feared streets became safe and orderly. Islamic activities thrived. The mosque buzzed with sermons. Classes were held for both men and women.
Children filled the classrooms. The SD IT Fajar Ilahi school grew to serve around 800 students from nearby communities. Dilapidated shacks selling alcohol vanished. In their place, a beautiful garden and parking area emerged. Trees were planted and fences were neatly erected.
Today, the Masjid Sabilunnajah stands as a center for Sunnah teachings in Batam. Besides the school, it also houses the LMZIS Alkahfi zakat institution. The Masjid Sabilunnajah complex hosts many religious studies. Every Monday after dawn, Ustaz Firdaus Sanusi teaches about Siroh Nabawiyyah. On Tuesdays after dawn, Ustaz Abu Fairuz Ahmad Ridwan shares insights from the Kitab Mutakhsor Shohih Bukhari.
The same ustaz also teaches Fiqh on Tuesdays after Maghrib. He uses the Kitab Syarah Bulughul Mahrom. And if that was not enough, on Wednesdays after dawn, Ustaz Abu Fairuz Ahmad Ridwan dives again into the Kitab Mutakhsor Shohih Bukhari. Tafsir follows every Wednesday after Maghrib. He uses the Kitab Tafsir Ibnu Katsir. The thirst for knowledge is quenched here day by day.
The transformation of this area is nothing short of a miracle. The Masjid Sabilunnajah embodies the power of faith. It shows how a community can reclaim its streets. It proves that with dedication, even the most troubled places can find redemption. The Masjid Sabilunnajah is not just a building. It is a symbol of change, resilience and hope for a brighter future.
