Twenty-four students. That’s the maximum in any class at the Leinetal Gymnasium & Realschule. Imagine the personalized learning.
This isn’t your average Hanoverian school. The Leinetal Gymnasium & Realschule is a unique institution. It’s a combined gymnasium and Realschule. Both are private schools. They received state recognition in 2010. They are part of a larger organization. The Verein fur Integration und Bildung or VIB founded the school in 2007. The Realschule followed a year later. The name Leinetalschulen was adopted in 2011.
This school is more than just academics. It’s a full-day school. Afternoon activities abound. Students participate in the Comenius program. They even compete in the International Mathematics Olympiad. The school is quite unique. There’s a monthly tuition fee. An application fee is also required. Exceptional fourth graders get financial aid. French is the only second language offered.
The school’s name is a little misleading. It’s named after the Leine River. However the school isn’t near the river. It’s several kilometers away. Hannover isn’t located in the Leine valley either. The city is quite flat. There’s another group of schools in South Lower Saxony called Leinetalschulen. However they are unrelated to this Hanoverian institution.
The Leinetal Gymnasium & Realschule is more than just a building. It’s a community. The first graduating class of both the Gymnasium and Realschule left in 2014. In the 2018-2019 school year. There were 234 students and 33 teachers. The school is constantly growing and evolving. It’s a testament to the VIB’s commitment to education. It’s a place where students thrive.
