Why did Indian Bible Church trade a spacious building for a coffee break room? Here at Mount Saint Vincent, in a cozy coffee break room, we find the present-day home of the Indian Bible Church. This isn’t the church’s original location. Indian Bible Church’s story began in 1971 in West Wash Park. Four Native American elders purchased a property on Logan Street for $25,000. Their vision was to create a spiritual haven for Native Americans relocating to Denver from various tribes. The building itself predates the Indian Bible Church. Records show the Logan Street Church of Christ occupied the space before 1971. For decades, Indian Bible Church thrived in its Logan Street home. The congregation grew to around 40 members. Then came COVID-19. Tragically, five members passed away within a month. This devastating loss, coupled with the mounting costs of maintaining the aging building, led to a difficult decision. A broken furnace in February 2023 became the tipping point. The church could not afford the repairs. They decided to sell. The nearly 100-year-old, 5,250-square-foot building at 595 South Logan Street was listed for $681,000. The Indian Bible Church needed a new home. Mount Saint Vincent offered their chapel. However, the large space felt impersonal to the now smaller congregation of about 20. Instead, they chose a more intimate setting. A coffee break room within Mount Saint Vincent, rented for $125 a week. Here, they gather around a table for services that feel more like interactive studies than traditional sermons. Indian Bible Church’s journey reflects resilience and adaptation. It reminds us that community and faith can thrive even in unexpected places.
