In the 1950s, the school buildings were repurposed. The 21st and 32nd Volksschule united to form the 21st Oberschule. In 1978, it was named after the German writer Ludwig Turek. It was known as the 21st Polytechnische Oberschule Ludwig Turek.
After the Berlin Wall fell, the school became property of the Berlin Senate. In 1994, it was renamed Franz-Carl-Achard-Schule. This honored Franz Carl Achard’s work with sugar beets in the area. The school became a Grundschule, or primary school, in the German education system.
