Lost in the whispering pines of upstate New York lies Buck Hill Farm. This isn’t just any farm. It’s a legacy a story etched in maple syrup and family. Buck Hill Farm also known as Buck’s Hollow was established in 1960. It began as a dairy farm a place where the sweet scent of milk mingled with the earthy aroma of the land.

The Bucks a family deeply rooted in the soil purchased this 110-acre haven in 1978. They weren’t just farmers they were maple syrup pioneers. They were among the first to bring their golden syrup to the bustling Greenmarkets of New York City. Imagine the energy the excitement of sharing their hard work with a city hungry for authentic tastes.

Tragedy struck in 1987. The family’s eldest son C J died of leukemia. This loss profoundly impacted the family. The farm was subsequently offered for sale in 1993. This is when Jeff and Lynn Buck’s daughter took over the farm.

The farm’s story continued under new management. Weekend breakfasts became a cherished tradition drawing locals and visitors alike to Buck’s Hollow. The saphouse kitchen buzzed with activity as the aroma of pancakes and fresh syrup filled the air. The syrup production grew. The farm became a popular weekend destination and local favorite.

Over the years Buck’s Hollow adapted. The family embraced sustainable practices. They minimized long-distance deliveries maximizing production from their land and locally sourcing supplies. Buck’s Hollow became a model of responsible farming. This is more than just a business. It is a family heirloom a testament to resilience and a tribute to those who came before. They now offer weekend breakfasts and a retail shop. The family strives to make each visitor feel like family a part of their unique story.
