Huanghuacheng Village is where our story unfolds. This village is part of Jiuduhe Town. Its area spans 8.9 square kilometers. Around 1,098 people call it home.

Here, the Huanghuacheng Great Wall emerges. Construction started in 1449 during the Ming Dynasty. Yu Qian, a Minister of War, ordered its construction to defend against the Wara army. The Great Wall was completed in 1453.

Huanghuacheng’s strategic importance led to military households settling here. This formed the foundation of today’s Huanghuacheng Village.

Huanghuacheng Village is known for the Huanghuacheng Lakeside Great Wall. Once, three sections of the Great Wall crossed the river. But the construction of the Huanghuacheng Reservoir in the last century changed the landscape. The unique sight disappeared.

The Huanghuacheng Water Great Wall Tourist Area is a AAAA-level scenic spot. It is famed for sections of the Great Wall entering the water. It uniquely connects the Great Wall with water. This is Beijing’s only Great Wall that merges with the aquatic environment. The area is about 65 kilometers from Beijing. It is about 35 kilometers from Huairou.

The scenic area combines green mountains and clear waters. The Great Wall blends with ancient trees. It is a place for tourism and leisure. The Water Great Wall has four wonders. The Great Wall encircles the lake. A giant dragon reaches into the water. There is also an ancient chestnut garden. Finally, there are cliffs and mountain streams.

The area mixes the elegance of southern China with the grand beauty of northern landscapes. It combines natural scenery and cultural elements. Thus, it has the saying: “Northern scenery, southern charm, all in the Water Great Wall.”
