“Love of God and surrender to him.” That was the focus of Swami Dharamdas Sahib. This is the story of the Sindhi Sat Sangat Darbar.

Welcome to the Sindhi Sat Sangat Darbar in Delhi. It is a place of faith and community. It echoes with the devotion of Sindhi Hindus and their unique connection to Sikh traditions. But to truly understand this Darbar, we need to journey back in time and across borders.

The story of Sindhi Sat Sangat Darbar starts with Swami Dharamdas Sahib. He lived from 1854 to 1947. The Darbar was first established in Larkana Sindh now in Pakistan. This happened between 1881 and 1904. It was founded by disciples to spread Swami Dharamdas Sahib’s teachings. He was born in Village Thoro. It is in the Kambar Taluk of Larkana District Sindh. Swami toured India extensively. He gained a large following of devotees. These devotees spread his message of love and renunciation. They did this through Satsangs.

Swami Dharamdas Sahib announced that his adopted son Swami Atalram Sahib would succeed him. Swami Pesuram Sahib would follow Swami Atalram Sahib. In June 1947, Swami Atalram Sahib took over the Dharam Darbar. Swami Atalram Sahib was born in 1889. He dedicated his life to serving God. After partition, Swami Atalram Sahib came to India. He established Dharam Darbar in Ulhasnagar near Mumbai. In February 1958, he laid the foundation stone for a Daram Darbar in Delhi. It was on Feroze Gandhi Road, Lajpat Nagar-3. He passed away in December 1958. His remains were cremated at the Delhi Darbar. A Dah-Kriva Asthan was built there and is visited by devotees.

After Swami Atalram Sahib’s death, Swami Pesuram Sahib became the Guru. He was born in 1902. He devoted his life to serving Swami Dharamdas Sahib. After partition, Swami Pesuram Sahib settled in Baroda. He continued his service at the Dharam Darbar there. Swami Pesuram Sahib was a visionary. On December 19 1964 he made a will. He appointed trustees to manage the Darbars in Delhi, Ulhasnagar and Baroda. The will stated that Swami Pesuram Sahib never married nor adopted a son. The Gaddi or throne shall not be filled after him. The trust would manage the properties and propagate the teachings of the three Satgurus. The Dharam Darbar is not connected with any Sadhu Samaj association.

Today, the Sindhi Sat Sangat Darbar here in Delhi is managed by a trust. It follows the will of Swami Pesuram Sahib. The trust keeps the memories of the Satgurus alive. It helps the poor and needy. It also celebrates auspicious days. Daily Satsangs are held here every morning and evening. Weekly Satsangs take place on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

The Sindhi Sat Sangat Darbar stands as a testament to faith, resilience, and community. It embodies the unique spiritual traditions of Sindhi Hindus. It also reflects their deep reverence for Guru Nanak and the Guru Granth Sahib. It is more than just a place of worship. It is a living story of devotion. It is a cultural bridge.
