Did the very ground beneath Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Đại An ever tremble with the fervor of new beginnings? In 1956, a group of parishioners, originally from Thái Bình province, embarked on a pilgrimage to this very spot. Led by Father Đaminh Trình Đức Luyện, they sought to establish a new community along the Đồng Nai River. This fledgling community, known as the Giáo họ Hà Xá, initially fell under the jurisdiction of Thường Phúc Parish. However, the seeds of independence had been sown. Just a year later, under the guidance of Father Simon Hòa Nguyễn Văn Hiền, Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Đại An was officially established. Father Sebastiano Nguyễn Duy Nhật became the first priest assigned to the parish. He, along with the dedicated parishioners, constructed the first church building, a humble structure of thatch and earthen walls. This simple edifice served as a testament to their unwavering faith. In 1968, Father Vincenta Nguyễn Ngọc Quý continued the work, rebuilding the church with sturdier brick walls. Over the years, Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Đại An witnessed a remarkable transformation. The church building has been renovated and expanded multiple times, a reflection of the growing congregation. In 1995, a new, grander church was consecrated, a testament to the perseverance and devotion of the Đại An community. Under the leadership of various priests, the parish continued to flourish. It expanded its facilities, adding a new parish house and other structures to serve the needs of its members. Today, Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Đại An stands as a beacon of faith. It represents the enduring spirit of the community that built it from humble beginnings. It’s a living testament to the power of faith and community. It’s a story of pilgrimage, perseverance, and growth.
