We stood before the unassuming village of Al Bustan, its peaceful facade hiding a history far older than many could imagine. This tranquil haven, nestled near the Al-Bustan Palace, holds within its heart a secret from the Samad Late Iron Age: a silent testament to lives lived centuries ago. In 1991, this necropolis, this city of the dead, began to reveal its secrets. The Ministry of National Heritage and Culture, alerted to the whispers of the past, began an excavation that would unearth seven graves. These weren’t just holes in the ground. They were portals to a time long gone, each artifact a story waiting to be told. A team from the German Mining Museum in Bochum, drawn by the allure of the unknown, meticulously worked to uncover the stories held within the earth. Each unearthed artifact, each skeletal whisper, added a piece to the puzzle of Al Bustan’s ancient past.
