Eunpyeong Hanok Village is a window into Korea’s architectural and cultural heritage. It offers a unique blend of historical charm and modern living.
This village is located in Jingwan-dong in Eunpyeong-gu. It presents a picturesque scene with Bukhansan Mountain as its backdrop. The neatly built hanoks add to the village’s quaint and serene atmosphere. It is near Yeonsinnae and Ilsan.
Imagine standing on the road surrounded by tall hanok structures. It feels like a historical film set from the Joseon Dynasty. The Eunpyeong Hanok Village offers many sites to explore. Walk along the deck path to Jingwansa Temple and the Literature Museum.
Eunpyeong Hanok Village is more than just a visual delight. It is a hub of cultural experiences. The village also has the Eunpyeong History Hanok Museum, the Neonadeuri Center and the Geumam Museum of Art.
The village covers 65500 square meters. It features two-story hanoks ranging from about 130 to 400 square meters. The Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation supplied the hanoks.
Eunpyeong Hanok Village is also near the eight best sceneries in Eunpyeong-gu. Visitors can enjoy exhibitions educational programs and hands-on activities.
The history of Eunpyeong-gu itself is fascinating. This area was Wiryeseong in the Baekje Dynasty. It became Shinju in the Silla Dynasty and Hansanju in the Unified Silla Dynasty.
During the Goryeo Dynasty Hanyang-gun became Yangju. It then rose to Namgyeong becoming a geographically significant location. Under the Joseon Dynasty Hanyang-bu became the capital Hansung-bu. Eunpyeong-gu’s name comes from Yeoneun-bang and Sangpyeong-bang in the north.
Although once part of Goyang-gun of Gyeonggi-do Eunpyeong-myeon became part of Seoul again in 1949. Eunpyeong-gu was officially created in 1979. Today it consists of 16 administrative units of dong.
