Can you hear the echoes of children’s laughter? Right here at Brede School Nieuwland, those echoes blend with the vibrant energy of Brussels. Brede School Nieuwland is more than just a school. It’s a community hub, a place where learning extends beyond the classroom. It’s a vital part of the Marollen network of schools, working alongside institutions like Sint-Joris basisschool and Sint-Jan Berchmanscollege. This network demonstrates the collaborative spirit of education in Brussels. Brede School Nieuwland underwent significant renovations. Blocks C-BC-ABZ-D and X were completely revitalized with new roofs, windows, elevator shafts, and sunshades. The Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie, together with Fast Forward Architects, breathed new life into this essential community resource. Brede School Nieuwland, under the leadership of Director Brian Rotsaert, provides subsidized public education. The school day runs from 8:40 am to 12:00 pm and then 1:10 pm to 3:30 pm. Wednesdays are a half-day, finishing at 12:00 pm. Beyond regular school hours, Brede School Nieuwland partners with IBO De Buiteling Nieuwland. This partnership offers before and after school care. It also covers Wednesdays, occasional days off, and school holidays, providing comprehensive childcare support for the community. Starting in September 2023, Brede School Nieuwland began offering kindergarten education. Each year, an additional grade level will be added. This progressive growth reflects the school’s commitment to expanding its impact on the community. As you stand here, imagine the halls filled with children. The air buzzes with their energy, their voices echoing through the renovated spaces. Brede School Nieuwland is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a testament to the power of community and the importance of education.
