Ever wondered how a coastal city preserves its identity amid rapid change? The Da Nang Museum stands right here. It is more than just a repository of artifacts. It is a vibrant testament to Da Nang’s journey through time.

Let’s step inside the Da Nang Museum. It is located on the grounds of the special national monument of Dien Hai Citadel at 24 Tran Phu. Established in 1989, the Da Nang Museum has become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists. This location marks the struggle against French colonialism.

Inside the Da Nang Museum, you will find over 2500 documents, images, and artifacts spread across three floors. These exhibits narrate the story of Da Nang. They highlight the city’s culture and its historical growth. The museum covers an area of 3000 square meters. It holds around 1900 original objects that have been collected since the city’s liberation.

Notice the spacious hall at the entrance. Its arced form evokes the image of strong arms embracing the sea. At the heart of the hall, five sails rise. They represent Da Nang’s connection to the ocean. Each sail features reliefs depicting the city’s role in Vietnam’s history.

The first sail takes us back to the Hung Kings. It reminds us of the ancient roots of Vietnam. The second sail reflects the northern land, with Hanoi’s Thang Long. The third sail highlights King Le Thanh Tong. He expanded the land to the south.

Sail four portrays the resilience of Da Nang residents. It shows their defense against foreign invaders during resistance wars against the French and Americans. The fifth sail depicts modern Da Nang. It shows its renewal and development. The Han River turning bridge stands proudly in the middle.

On the first floor, discover relics related to Da Nang’s natural surroundings. You will see collections of antiquities. These collections showcase Da Nang’s history. They highlight the coastal inhabitants’ way of life. Images of the city before 1975 are also displayed.

The second floor pays tribute to Da Nang’s heroic role in the resistance wars against the French and the US. Da Nang served as the starting point for the anti-French front. Visitors will learn about the conflict. They will understand the courageous spirit of Da Nang.

Ascend to the third floor to explore the cultures of the ethnic groups in Da Nang and Quang Nam. Costumes, musical instruments, and jewelry are displayed. These items represent the daily lives of the local ethnic groups. You will gain insights into the practices and beliefs of the Co Tu and Xo Dang people.

For those eager to delve deeper, a cinema room offers videos. These videos cover the history, culture, and society of Da Nang. The Da Nang Museum maintains the way of life of the common people living by the sea.

The Da Nang Museum is open from Monday to Saturday. The morning hours are 8:00 to 11:30. The afternoon hours are 13:30 to 17:00. The admission fee is 20.000 VND per person. Admission is free for children, students, Da Nang residents, the elderly, and those with disabilities.
