The construction was handled by local companies. Company No. 508 and Bridge Company No. 75 worked hard on it. Civil Engineering Corporation No. 1 built the main parts.
The main span was finished on October 26 2012. The Dragon Bridge officially opened on March 29 2013. This date marked the 38th anniversary. It celebrated the liberation of Da Nang.

The Dragon Bridge also plays a role. It is part of the Da Nang International Firework Festival. This annual event attracts competitors worldwide. The Dragon Bridge offers a great view of the fireworks.
